Triaminic Develops Sick Days Guidelines for Children

You mommies have it so much better than I did. Seriously. When mine were young we were barely into the disposable diaper era.

Forget cold medicine. Even the good stuff tasted like hard liquor and battery acid and ended up staining their Garanimals.

Mine are teens now and they still have that need to be taken care of when they have a cold. We still keep good old Triaminic around so they can feel like babies again.  Maybe if Triaminic had had all these easy to take products when mine were younger there wouldn't be the trauma today...just because of the sniffles. Seriously they are worse than Husbands.

What does Triaminic offer besides liquids?

Thin strips and

cold chews...

No dribbles, no mess...happy kids with symptoms under control.

Triaminic takes their job seriously and with guidelines for taking cold medicine changing,  they are smart to focus on school age children and tackling when and if to keep a child home from school.  A sick day for a child can mean a day off for a parent, doctor visits...a big mess.

Triaminic is launching an initiative to educate parents on when to keep a child home from school by introducing Sick Day Guidelines that they have recently developed with the National Association of School Nurses (NASN). Parents know when their children aren’t feeling well - these Guidelines are aimed at helping parents decide when to keep the kids at home, or send them off to school.  Through the NASN, the Sick Day Guidelines will be distributed to more than 14,000 school nurses in the form of a refrigerator magnet.

Personally my kids put the School Nurses though the ringer...with headaches, cut fingers, stomach aches, and...colds.  This sounds like a great idea, Triaminic.  And a great resource for parents!  You will want to bookmark this page for reference!

Snoop around and you'll find a coupon for Triaminic thin strips too!

TNT Closer Returns January 26-Short Pump Preppy Review

Who is ready for The Closer with Kyra Sedgwick to return? 5 new episodes begin Monday January 26 and cliffhangers will be....

No spoilers here, but I had a chance to preview the first two episodes and I'll just say...SQUEEEEEE!

Kyra Sedgwick, Golden Globe winner plays LAPD Deputy Police Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson. The story revolves around her investigations and mixes it up by adding a little humor to her personal life. Catch The Closer followed by Trust Me, the new series on TNT.

TNT Trust Me Premiers January 26 - Short Pump Preppy Review

I'm adjusting my bedtime on Monday nights. I had the opportunity to preview the TNT original series Trust Me starring Eric McCormack and Tom Cavanagh which premiers Monday, January 26 10/9c. The show is a "Mad Men meets 13 Going on 30" look at the advertising world and the personal/professional relationships of this ensemble cast. Take your typical workplace insecurity, inflated egos and a little fun, flirtation and you have an intellectual comedy that is quite entertaining.

From the producers:

Eric McCormack (Will & Grace) and Tom Cavanagh (Ed) return to series television in TNT’s TRUST ME, a sharp, witty drama series that centers on two best friends working as creative partners at a top-ranked Chicago ad agency.

Joining McCormack and Cavanagh in TRUST ME are Monica Potter (Boston Legal), Griffin Dunne (Law & Order: Criminal Intent), Sarah Clarke (24), Mike Damus (Lost in Yonkers) and Geoffrey Arend (Garden State). The show from Warner Horizon Television is executive-produced by THE CLOSER’s Greer Shephard, Michael M. Robin, Hunt Baldwin and John Coveny. Baldwin and Coveny are also writers on the show. TRUST ME premieres Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), following an all-new episode of THE CLOSER.

Set against the backdrop of the high-pressure world of advertising, TRUST ME focuses on Mason (McCormack) and Conner (Cavanagh), a pair of ad men whose strong creative partnership has served the firm of Rothman Greene & Mohr extremely well over the years. Mason, an art director, is a responsible, workaholic family man with a beautiful wife, Erin (Clarke), two children and an undying loyalty to the brands he helps sell. By contrast, his writing partner, Conner (Cavanagh), is a single, impulsive copywriter with the attention span of a teenager. Their yin-yang relationship is put to the test when Mason is named a creative director of the agency, making him Conner’s boss. The series follows the changing dynamics between the two friends, who are better together than they are apart.

Also working in the same creative group is new hire Sarah Krajicek-Hunter (Potter), an award-winning copywriter whose forceful personality has a tendency to rub people the wrong way. Hector (Arend) and Tom (Damus) are a junior creative team with untraditional ideas that don’t always sit well with their new boss. The entire team is supervised by Tony Mink (Dunne), a man who lives and dies by the advertising business but has a growing sense his days in this young person’s business may be numbered.

TRUST ME follows these memorable characters as they try to navigate the waters of inter-office politics, personality conflicts, easily bruised egos, professional jealousies and unreasonable client demands.
All that means you have a cast that works well together, creates a quirky look at the advertising world and the egos involved. I'm setting my DVR. Monday is a busy night. Catch The Closer with Kyra Sedgwick at 9/8c on TNT too!

Suave Economics - Head to Head Challenge - Short Pump Preppy

Since I posted on Short Pump Preppy about the Free Bottle of Suave Bailout on January 14 {puffy hope you got in on the coupon}, Suave began stalking me. In a good way. They are very economically suavvy [lol] and offered me a stimulus package.

I know!    Since I may not get one from the government I was super psyched about this one.

They sent me their super affordable products and some high end competitors' products to try in a head to head challenge.

...wow, and look at the pretty plate of goodies...just because they are on a pretty plate doesn't mean they are better...sheesh...

I compared the moisturizers...Suave vs. Jergens.  I have to say I'm crushin' on the Suave.  It is lighter and not as heavy a smell....  and at half the price, ($3 vs. $6) I'll take it.
According to Suave:  It provides fast, long-lasting relief for tight, dry skin, leaving it conditioned and healthier looking.

I put the Suave shampoo and conditioner in a head to head with the Nexxus and I didn't see a difference.  I switched back and forth, using each for a few days and both felt lighter than the product I had been using.  {whoops} Tells me I was due for a CHANGE

Suave’s Humectant shampoo and conditioner are a salon quality system that restores moisture to dry or damaged hair, leaving it soft and manageable.

$2 - 2.50 as opposed to the Nexxus at $8.79-12.69.  For Realz.
(btw, the pic shows the SUAVE, obvy)
The Suave hair spray didn't leave my hair heavy and didn't dry it out.  The Sebastian Shpritz Forte?  (geez I can't pronounce it, how's Cute and Sassy going to plug it into the SmartShopper?) A little wetter, heavier, but seemed a little stronger.  I liked them both, and would probably use them for different occasions, depending on the need...but that's a biiiiiiggg price difference.

The Freeze Hold Non-Aerosol Hairspray from Suave delivers all-day hold for style and control.
Suave $2.17, Sebastian, $12.49!

The cleansing gel.  Sorry Suave, your scent was a little too strong for me and I was indifferent to the Bath and Body works.  But I'm not a flowery kind of girl, so I would probably pick a different scent (like the cucumber melon or the tropical coconut..sa-weet) in either brand.  Someone who likes flowery perfume would probably be OK.  The scents were very similar.  The Suave was just a little too heavy for me.  But for the price, you should give it a whiff.

The Suave Sweet Pea & Violet Body Wash formula is made with sweet pea and violet extracts and skin conditioning Vitamin E.
Suave $2-2.50, B&BW $10.50 {I know!}

Then they gave me the deodorant, just as a comparison with my own... It is just as good as the Dove I have been using.  Ukrops, you need to move the Suave off the bottom shelf.

Thanks Suave for taking care of me in these tough economic times!  I'm definitely up for CHANGE, and CHANGE can be good!  And save me a boatload of moolah!

Next I'm going to check out their MOUSSE.  You BETCHA!  I just hope I don't have to go all the way to ALASKA to find it!
